Reviews

Love it!

"My skin looks like silk after using this primer and I’m also able to use powder make up. I’m 64 and have fine lines and wrinkles, but this helped minimize them. I used a very good brush to apply the primer with and that makes a difference! Love this product! My face looks great with it!"

Renee (5/5)

Makes My Skin Looks Worse

"This primer makes my makeup look very patchy. When I do the same skincare routine and skip the primer, my makeup looks fine."

Lacey (1/5)

Great product

"Great product, with prompt and convenient service. Website easily navigable and easy to use. I will recommend this product and business to others!"

Harold R. (5/5)

Awful

"I tried this primer cos I like Tatcha. However it was hard to apply, too thick. It also left a powdery residue on my face several hours after applying. I had to throw it out."

Marie B. (1/5)

Caused breakout

"Saw no difference when using this except for the breakout it left."

Jo (1/5)

To waxy and makes my make up dry

"I really hope to love it, but I notices that the make up became more dry and didn’t stick to my skin. It worked better without the primer. Have to say, a bit disappointed."

Amber K. (1/5)

Great product

"I love wearing this under my makeup, makes my makeup look flawless in combination with the silk powder"

Viviana B. (5/5)

Waxy

"Feels like a waxy film when apply and on face. The thickness enhances my little wrinkles and ages me not decreases. I love the cream but this isn’t good. Is there another primer I could try?"

HEATHER S. (1/5)

my new favorite

"I love how it glides and blends in my skin."

JASMIN D. (5/5)

Best primer ever

"I love this! It goes on so silky and smooth and allows my foundation to do the same. Absolutely amazing product."

Q&A

The product has pulled away from the edges of the container Does that mean it's dried out and I should not use it?
A slight separation from the edges of the container can occur naturally over time and does not necessarily indicate that the product has dried out. If the texture, scent, and application remain consistent, you can still use it. However, if you notice any dryness, crumbling, or a change in scent, we would recommend discontinuing use.
I have been using this after silk cream. When I put makeup on after the primer, I get little balls of product coming off my skin. Can you help me figure out what's happening and how to fix it?
Make sure that any serum, moisturizer, or sunscreen has had a chance to dry down fully before applying The Silk Canvas. Also, make sure you are applying it gently with your fingertips, not a sponge or a brush. You can also try pressing it on the skin instead of swiping, which will most definitely stop any pilling from occurring. After the Silk Canvas is applied over the skin, use a brush to apply your foundation.
Can you use a brush to apply instead of your hands
The Silk Canvas is recommend to be applied by hand due to the texture of the formulation.
What is the base of this primer? Silicone, Water, Oil? I want to know what makeup to use with it.
Thank you for your interest! The primer is silk-based and works under all types of makeup. We hope this helps.
If I typically use a tinted sunscreen, would i apply the primer before or after?
Great question. Typically the primer would be over your sunscreen if you are applying makeup afterwards, but if you are not applying makeup, you can apply the primer first and then the tinted sunscreen afterwards.

The Best Lightweight Sunscreen for Your Face

Sunscreen used to be considered thick, pore-clogging, and opaque white — but today’s iterations are impressively different. Modern sunscreen is lightweight, nearly invisible, and can actually improve the look and feel of skin. A lightweight feel is not only sensorially important, but it also helps to make the experience of wearing it more enjoyable, while encouraging you to use it daily. It’s a pleasure to use, rather than a chore.

Oily vs. Glowy Skin: How to Tell The Difference (And Get the Glow)

While oily skin and glowy skin can seem similar, they are distinctively different. Oily skin is from an overproduction of sebum from the sebaceous glands, while glowing skin gives off a natural radiance from a balanced, hydrated, and healthy skin barrier. There’s nothing wrong with oily skin, and, with a few specific products, you can take excessive oiliness and transform it into glowing, dewy skin. Utilize balancing cleansers, lightweight moisturizers, and oil-absorbing primers to help look more glowy than oily.

4 Transformative Benefits of Using the Best Face Essence

An ancient staple in Japan, essences are finally gaining popularity in the US. An essence is a watery liquid infused with skin-benefiting active ingredients that can hydrate, brighten, firm, and more. An essence is pressed into the skin after cleansing and before serums and moisturizers, and is designed for daily use. Some of the best essences for the face have dramatic benefits, including hydrating, plumping, reducing the appearance of wrinkles (as effectively as a retinol), and making the rest of your skincare products work better.
