Tatcha’s Neuroscience Ambassador

Dr. Claudia Aguirre

With a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Southern California, Dr. Claudia is an expert in the brain-skin axis and hormonal interactions in the brain. Her TEDx talks and TED-Ed lessons have been viewed by millions worldwide. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Allure, BBC, The Today Show and on Netflix.

Dr. Claudia Aguirre is a neuroscientist, educator, and globally recognized authority on the mind-skin connection. A pioneer in the field of neurocutaneous science, she has spent more than 15 years advancing our understanding of how the brain, nervous system, and skin communicate—and how stress, emotion, touch, and sensory experiences influence skin health and overall wellbeing. She was the first PhD neuroscientist to work within the professional beauty industry, helping establish the brain-skin connection as a transformative area of research for skincare and wellness.

Dr. Aguirre earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Southern California, with research spanning neuroendocrinology, learning and memory, brain aging, and longevity. Today, she advises leading beauty, wellness, and healthcare organizations on translating cutting-edge neuroscience into product innovation, education, and consumer experiences. Her TEDx talk, The Hidden Brain in Your Skin, has introduced millions to the science behind psychodermatology and helped bring the mind-skin connection into mainstream conversation.

Throughout her career, Dr. Aguirre has collaborated with some of the world's most respected brands, including Dyson, Headspace, Six Senses, and NASA, among others. She is a frequent keynote speaker, published researcher, and scientific advisor whose work continues to shape the future of beauty, longevity, and integrative wellness.

As a neuroscientist, I've long studied how our inner world shows up on our outer selves. What drew me to working with Tatcha is that their approach to skin is rooted in the same biological truth I've spent my career exploring: the skin and mind are not separate systems, but a single, continuously communicating one. Hadasei-3 and their NeuroSkin Science framework reflect a formulation philosophy that takes this connection seriously, one where a skincare ritual is an act of tending to the whole self. The concept of hinou-dokon isn't just Japanese wisdom, it's increasingly what the science confirms." – Dr. Claudia Aguirre
